Free Now, previously known as mytaxi, was founded in 2009 in Hamburg as a modern alternative to traditional taxi orders. It was the world’s first app that directly connected a passenger with a nearby taxi driver and allowed fare payment via a mobile app.

The application developed rapidly – in 2011 it entered foreign markets, starting from Vienna, and by 2012 it was available, among others, in Barcelona, ​​Madrid and Warsaw. At the end of 2012, mytaxi appeared in Poland, enabling cashless payments via the application. In the following years, the application expanded its operations – in 2015 it was launched in Krakow, and in 2016 in Tricity.

Free Now is owned by Daimler Mobility Services GmbH (part of the Daimler Group) and BMW. In 2019, mytaxi transformed into the global Free Now brand as a result of the merger of BMW and Daimler urban mobility services.

Recently, FreeNow has established cooperation with Żabka, thanks to which customers can order a taxi directly in the Żabka application!
